A 46-year-old Pastor, Olamide Sobowale, of Glory Church of Christ
Aladura, Oke-Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been ordered to be
remanded in prison for allegedly molesting a woman while bathing in his
church backyard
.
Pastor Sobowale, who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, yesterday, was accused of molesting one Dupe Makinde, 30, who lives in Isaje, Abeokuta, while taking a spiritual bath allegedly recommended by the pastor.
The prosecuting counsel, Paul Etusi, told the court that the accused grabbed the complainant while she was in a bathroom within the church premises and molested her.
Etusi said the complainant had already put the soap on her face as she began bathing when the pastor suddenly entered the bathroom, grabbed and molested her with soap on her face.
According to Etusi, the accused had told Mrs. Makinde that he had a vision about the her and asked her to come for deliverance in his church.
He said: “He asked the woman to come to the church to take a spiritual bath for her deliverance, but, while the complainant was taking her bath, the accused barged into the bathroom, grabbed the woman and molested her.
“The accused has committed an offence contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of criminal code of law of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006.”
Magistrate A. Araba after listening to the prosecuting counsel, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison till he gets advice from the Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till September 16,2013.

Birth defects are quite common around the world, some more than others. Every once in a while we see one that just catches our attention and makes us think back to whether or not we’ve seen it before. In this case, it appears to be a rare deformity that caused a baby born with ears under its chin. The image, taken from the popular photo site Imgur shows a newborn baby who was born with a few cranial birth defects, such as a deformed mouth and jawline,
but more prominently the placement of the ears stands out.
The placement of the ears in this case is somewhat reminiscent of where gills would be on an aquatic animal, or fish. Perhaps they simply failed to migrate to the side of the head after they were formed. In the first trimester of pregnancy, the ears form along the jaw line out of cartilage. At some point during the second trimester the ears typically migrate to their correct place on the side of the head. This is the normal process that appears to have failed during the second trimester, which resulted in the low placement of the ears as well as the deformed jaw line. The Mayo Clinic states that by 18 weeks of gestation, a fetus should be able to hear, as well as have fully formed ears.
In the case of the child in this picture, it is not known if the child was born prematurely or if it survived post-birth. Details about when and where this child were born are still unclear, as not much information appears to be public aside from this picture.

The first incident claim the lives of two men and a women who were on their way home after the second and third incident claimed the lives of a commercial driver with his passenger.

A 29-years-old Nigerian man studying in the UK, Jayeola Abiola, has been jailed for 12 months over a sham marriage. The Hull University masters student needed to marry to stay in the UK, and that led him into paying a Portuguese woman, Vania Pinheiro-Fernandes, to be his bride.
Officers of the UK border agency had been tipped off by the Hull Registrar that the couple seemed to barely know each other when they were interviews at the rehearsal. On the wedding day, the UK border agency secretly filmed the cars, groom, bride and best man arriving outside the grand 19th century council town hall before arresting them.
It was revealed that Jayeola Abiola was in danger of being deported from UK because his visa was due to expire a few days after the marriage and that the bride gave them out when she used a fake name when they spoke to the registrar.
The bride purchased her wedding dress two hours before the marriage ceremony, and another Nigerian Student, a Leed law student, 25-years-old Ayodeji Abbis, was paid £1,000 to act as the best man. While Abiola Kumoye, 34, was paid £2,650 as part payment to arrange the sham marriage.
The groom has been sentenced to 12-months-imprisonment while the bride was given an 8-months-imprisonment; meanwhile the court adjourned sentence on the best man and the marriage fixer.

A big girl identified as Nkechi who hailed from Onitsha, Anambra State but settled in Asaba with her parents after graduation while searching for employment, got involved in Facebook Love at the centre where she was learning Computer.
Somehow she met a rich young man online, a Nigerian. The man decided to disguised himself as a ‘cripple’ to her whenever he arrive Nigeria, but he is actually a lawyer trained in the United Kingdom...
It was gathered that after series of chats, the 'cripple' asked for her hand in marriage and Nkechi immediately accepted, not knowing that the man will disguise as a cripple to test her. After their relationship which lasted about seven months online, the young lawyer, who was identified as Henry (surname withheld), returned to Nigeria on a wheelchair.
Nkechi, accompanied by her friend, went to the airport to welcome him, but was shocked to see him on a wheelchair and when he begged her to marry him, she refused.
According to reports, Nkechi continued to refuse his proposal, despite his pleas and a visit to her house. She also did not listen to her friend. Her friend, identified as Onyinye, a fashion boutique owner, living somewhere around Infant Jesus area of Asaba, was shocked at her friend’s decision after pleading with her to reconsider her "wheel chair" lover, but Nkechi refused.
Unfortunately for Nkechi, her friend Onyinye started feeling pity for Henry's condition, not knowing that the man is not actually a cripple. Onyinye thus accepted to marry Henry since Nkechi has turned him down.
Consequently, whisperNaija.com gathered that Henry went ahead to finalise wedding plans with Onyinye. They had the traditional marriage and white wedding last weekend in Asaba.
However, at the wedding reception, Henry got off his wheelchair to the amazement of all and told everyone present that he was never a ‘cripple,’ but had to disguise himself because he was hoping to get married to a Nigerian lady who would have genuine love for him, irrespective of his "condition".
It was jubilation all the way and people started praising Onyinye for being a virtuous woman.

Disillusioned 30-year-old Nkechi, a graduate of Micro-biology later committed suicide due to the shame that her finacee, who she met on Facebook, had gotten married to her best friend.
In her suicie note, Nkechi wrote:
“I have gone to rest as I cannot stand the situation after the house I built has collapsed. This is a lesson for single ladies; never reject any suitor, so that you don’t end up dead.”
The Police in Delta State confirmed Nkechi's unfortunate action, her parents are said to be in shock.

TRAGEDY STRUCK IN BENIN, EDO STATE
According to National Mirror, tragedy struck in Benin, Edo State at the
weekend when a car crushed the father of a groom, identified as Mr.
Edward Airhiavbere, during a wedding.
The wedding, which attracted the cream of the social circles in the state capital, ended abruptly before the couple could say, “Yes, I do”.
Many of the confused family members and guests either shook their heads in amazement as they returned home or simply stood rooted to the spot.
The incident occurred about 9.30am on Saturday [Jul. 6] in front of the Registry of the Oredo Local Government Area, located just about 100 metres from the sprawling palace of the Oba of Benin.
The groom, bride and others in the bridal train wept profusely as the victim reportedly died on the spot before he could be rushed to the nearby Central Hospital’s emergency ward for treatment.
Witnesses said the groom’s father died when an attempt to re-park an Isuzu V8 Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, with registration number Lagos SR 21 KJA in front of the registry gone awry.
A young man, who attempted to re-park the car lost control of the vehicle and crushed the septuagenarian Airhiavbere, who sat behind a Toyota Camry car with registration number Edo BD 958 USL.
The victim was said to have died on the spot despite spirited attempts to save his life. The unidentified young man trying to re-park the car exploited the ensuing confusion to escape mob action.

FORMER PRESIDENT OLUSEGUE OBASANJO ADIMITED THAT HE MADE MISTAKE
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday admitted making mistakes
as Military Head of State and civilian president, but he took
responsibility for all his mistakes. He however declared that the
mistakes he made were “successful” mistakes.
Speaking during the 50th anniversary lecture in Ibadan, Oyo State, in commemoration of the call to the Bar of Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), Obasanjo, who had been criticised by many and recently accused by a civil war veteran and former Chief of Staff of the 3rd Marine Commando Division, Nigeria Army, Gen. Alabi Isama (retd), of committing numerous blunders during his reign in government, spoke proudly of his mistakes.
Obasanjo said, “One mistake I made that turned out to be successful was when I was looking for somebody to give leadership of the University of Lagos to and I chose Babalola. Some people said I made a mistake but it turned out to be a successful mistake.
“My mistakes as people say were mostly in appointments. I appointed the UNILAG Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor and the university became the best. The Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor that I appointed were acknowledged as the best at the time.
“The mother of all the mistakes was that the exposure and involvement of Babalola in the affairs of UNILAG led to the establishment of the Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti.
“If you have not seen ‘instant wonder’, go to ABUAD. Babalola used his experience as the Pro-Chancellor of UNILAG to build what today is the best and fast growing private university in the country.”
Obasanjo spoke highly of the revered lawyer as he inaugurated the extension of Babalola’s Emmanuel Chambers on the occasion.
“There are many Nigerians,” he said, “but, there are not many good Nigerians of Babalola’s sterling qualities.”
President Goodluck Jonathan also spoke reverently of the senior advocate. Represented by Solicitor-General of the Federation, Ahmed Abdulahi, Jonathan described Babalola as a product of courage, perseverance, determination and humility.
The Guest Speaker at the occasion, retired Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, while delivering a lecture entitled, ‘The future of Law in Nigeria’, stressed the need to improve legal education in the country.
He said, “Our legal education should be re-invigorated and made more robust. For instance, we should begin to encourage inclusion of Comparative Law in every aspect of our legal education.
“We can only neglect the history of the principles of the common law at a disadvantage. Our law faculties should be fully equipped with the access to jurisprudence and decisions of other jurisdiction to protect our laws.
“We delude ourselves in this country if we believe that, we can be a great nation without a great legal system. The path to the greatness of our nation is through a reliable, efficient, trustworthy and value-driven legal system.”
Former Pro-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Chief Wole Olanipekun, (SAN) described Babalola as a reformer, revolutionary and educationist who contributed to national and legal development.
Dignitaries present at the occasion include Governors Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo) and a former Ekiti State Governor Segun Oni among others.

Asuu strike update [as asuu committiee walked out on joint Nation Assembly Meeting]
The lecturers’ union, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Tuesday in Abuja, walked out on the joint National Assembly Committee on Education at a meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Ministers of Education and Labour, Professor Ruqquayatu Ruf’ai and Emeka Nwogu respectively . The committee had invited ASUU, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics
(ASUP) and the Academic Staff Union of Colleges of Education (COEASU)

| Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is to appear in a federal court in the city for his first public court appearance since the April 15 attacks. Tsarnaev, 19, has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction in the bombings that killed three people and wounded more than 260. The defendant and his elder brother Tamerlan allegedly detonated two pressure cooker bombs along the closing stages of the marathon route on April 15. A police officer was shot dead as the Tsarnaev brothers went on the run in the days following the attack. Tamerlan was killed following a shoot-out with law enforcement officers on April 18. A seriously wounded Dzhokhar was found hiding in a boat on a suburban Boston driveway the following day. After initially being confined at a city hospital, he was moved to a prison west of Boston. The teenager is said to have scrawled his motives for the attacks on an interior wall of the boat. According to court papers, he wrote: "The US government is killing our innocent civilians, we Muslims are one body, you hurt one you hurt us all. "Now I don't like killing innocent people it is forbidden in Islam but due to said it is allowed." If the Obama administration tries for the death penalty against Tsarnaev, it could face a long, difficult legal battle in a US state that has not seen an execution in nearly 70 years. Massachusetts abolished its own death penalty in 1984, but Tsarnaev is being prosecuted in a federal court. The Tsarnaev brothers had lived in the Boston area for about 10 years before launching their attacks, apparently without any assistance from an outside group. During a recent conversation with his mother in Dagestan, Tsarnaev, a US national of Chechen origin, appeared to be in good spirits, telling her "everything was fine." In a recording of the call obtained by Britain's Channel 4 News, Tsarnaev also said he was receiving thousands of dollars in donations from people offering support. |

The video captured an attack led by a member of the Rivers State house of assembly in an attempt to impeach the speaker of the house. The Speaker and 26 other members of the house are loyal to the governor, Rotimi Amaechi, while five others led by Evans Bapakaye Bipi, representing Ogu/Bolo constituency are loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience.
